Commercial groundworks is a service that is instrumental to the success of a construction, civil engineering or landscaping project. This is a solution most often used prior to building work starting. Groundworks happens in stages and each one is a step towards creating foundations or bases for subsequent phases of a project, usually when builders, carpenters, joiners or landscapers come in to do their work before the 1st-fix and 2nd-fix stages can begin.
A commercial groundworks service includes the following:

Land and Site Clearances
After completing the demolition and soft strip-out stages, groundworks begin with a clearance of the workspace to remove debris, scrub and vegetation. The purpose of this phase is to create a blank slate for building, construction, civil engineering, hard landscaping and soft landscaping work.
Soil investigations help us to determine the most suitable foundations.
Excavation and Earthmoving
Our commercial groundworks contractors use machinery, like mini diggers, to uplift earth so that foundations, slabs and sub-bases can be integrated to the specified depth. All uplifted soil and rubble is safely removed from site using a grab lorry or a tipper truck, where it is sent to licensed waste transfer stations.
Much of the spoil generated ends up repurposed as secondary aggregates.
Trenching and Drainage
Provisions must be made to facilitate surface water runoff and the dispersal of foul drainage into the main sewer system. On landscaping projects, it may also be necessary to install a soakaway. Our trenching and drainage service is integrated into commercial groundworks to prevent flooding and pooling.
Drainage also protects against unsanitary site conditions.
Infrastructure and Utilities
With the ground preparation phases complete, contractors lay foundations, footings or sub-bases which absorb the load-bearing weight of a physical structure such as a property, an extension, a driveway or a patio. The correct foundation will enable stability and stop potential issues with subsidence.
Prior to finishing the groundworks stage, utilities can be laid underground.
Because we cover surrounding areas in Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds, including Banbury, Chipping Norton and Moreton-in-Marsh, Sam Peet Groundworks is a regional site preparation specialist. Our aptitude for commercial groundworks makes us trusted contractors and subcontractors with businesses and commercial clients from a range of sectors who rely on commercial groundworks to enable the next phases of their operations.
